Stephen F. Housed within the Department of Human Services and Telecommunications Building, which includes the School Psychology Assessment Center, Human Neuroscience Laboratory, Counseling Clinic, and the Speech and Language Pathology and Audiology Centers, the SFA School Psychology Program is on the cutting edge of research and technology. The Master's in School Psychology Program was authorized by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board in August of xxxx. The Ph.D. Program in School Psychology is one of three doctoral degrees at Stephen F. Austin State University and was authorized by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board in xxxx. The programs are dedicated to facilitating the development of ethical, responsible, and competent school psychologists, who employ scientific knowledge and methods of critical and creative problem solving and designed to meet the standards set forth by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), the American Psychological Association, the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists for this level of certification. The programs philosophy of education holds that one learns best by engaging in practice. The mission of our program is to apply science knowledge and methods to the assessment and treatment of learning, behavior, and psycho-social problems in regular and special education populations in public school. Our program emphasizes functional analytic, collaborative, and data-based decision-making with respect of special attributes, dignity, diversity, and unique characteristics of each student as a contributor to our overall culture. SFASU seeks a Program Director of the School Psychology program to begin Fall xxxx. An earlier appointment may be considered. Responsibilities of the Program Director, a senior-level, tenure-track appointee (Associate Professor or Professor), shall include, all responsibilities associated with tenure-track faculty, and the following: providing program leadership by working closely with the Department Chair, program faculty, and support staff (4 tenure track faculty, 1 program secretary) in development of curriculum, maintaining policies and operations that are in compliance with NASP and APA standards, and facilitating moving the doctoral program to APA and NASP accreditation through orchestrating data collection and report writing. Position description This is a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track faculty position responsible for contributing significantly to Stephen F. Austin State University's graduate programs through teaching, scholarship/creative accomplishment, and service. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. This is a security-sensitive position that reports to the department chair. Qualified candidates will have the following: 1. Doctorate in school psychology; 2. Body of scholarship congruent with rank of appointment of Associate or Full Professor; 3. Licensable as a school psychologist in Texas; 4. Licensable as a psychologist in Texas; 5. Graduate-level teaching experience; and 6. Knowledge about NASP, APA an BCBA standards. The most competitive candidates will have the following: (1.) K-12 experience as a school psychologist or related work in the K-12 setting; (2.) Experience in assessment of children and adults from diverse backgrounds; (3.) Training and experience in the supervision of practicum and internship students; and (4.) Prior experience as program director.
